Composer Konstantin Iliev’s 1976 Gorata i Ptsitite was the first of two musical experiments (the other being his 1978 Glasovete na Ravninata) that successfully blended traditional Bulgarian folk elements with complex aleatoric techniques in a virtuosic vocal display for female chorus.
